Extended Licence for Apps & Platforms
Put exercise demos inside your app.
The Extended Licence lets you build ExerciseClips into one commercial product, such as a fitness app, a coaching platform or a workout-builder site. There's no limit on users, and the product can be free or paid. You get files you host yourself, with no API to connect to and no per-user fees.
Who it's for
- App builders making a fitness, coaching or workout app on iOS, Android, web, TV or watch
- Platform and SaaS teams running a coaching platform, a gym-management system or a workout builder
- Studios and gyms with their own branded member app
Making programmes, PDFs, websites, social posts or content for screens on your premises, without an app? The Standard Licence that comes with every pack covers that. See the Standard Licence.
What Extended adds to Standard
| Use | Standard (comes with every pack) | Extended |
|---|---|---|
| Programmes, PDFs, handouts, slides | Yes | Yes |
| Websites, newsletters, social posts, ads | Yes | Yes |
| Screens on your premises (gym, studio, clinic or school) and staff training | Yes | Yes |
| Build clips into an app, web app, SaaS product or platform | No | Yes, one product |
| Number of end users | n/a | Unlimited, free or paid product |
| Host on your own storage or CDN | n/a | Yes |
| Convert for delivery (e.g. WebP, AVIF, HLS, sprites, a texture atlas) | Resize, crop, re-time and re-encode in your own work | Yes, for use inside your product |
| Serve clips through your own private API or backend | No | Yes, if only your own product calls it |
| Users export documents your product makes (a workout plan, a PDF, a shared session link) | n/a | Yes, as long as the export is your document, not the raw clip file |
| Keep clips in a private repo and CI system | n/a | Yes |
Same product, every platform. Your app on iOS, Android, web, TV and watch counts as one product. A different brand, a separate app-store listing, or a product owned by another organisation counts as a separate product and needs its own licence.
What Extended still doesn't allow
- Letting users download, export, save or right-click-save a clip as a file. Serve clips from URLs that can't be guessed, and don't publish a public list of them.
- Making the clips available through a public or third-party API, SDK, feed, webhook, plug-in, embed code or bulk export.
- White-labelling or reselling. You can't supply the clips to another organisation for their product, or sell an edition whose main value is the clip library.
- Using the clips to build or seed another exercise-animation library, dataset, stock catalogue or content API.
- AI training, fine-tuning, testing or grounding, or using the clips to generate new animations.
- Removing our identifying information from the files, including embedded metadata.
One thing to do after launch: within 30 days of your first public release, tell us your product's name and its website or app-store link through our contact page. Until you do, the licence applies to the first product you ship with the clips.
Read the full Extended Licence v1.3. If the summary and the licence differ, the licence counts.
Teams and pricing
Extended is priced per product, not per person. One licence covers one product, with unlimited end users.
Your team is covered under the Standard terms that Extended includes: one licence covers one organisation, including every location it owns or runs, and your employees and contractors can use the clips while they work for you. They can't keep the clips or use them for their own separate work.
Team price: one price per product, whatever the size of your team.
Several products: each one needs its own licence, at US$249 each after the first.
Formats and file specs
- Clips: all 1,323 in the Full Library
- Formats: animated GIF and MP4 (both included with Extended). They show the same animations.
- Size: 360 × 360 pixels, square. That's the largest size available, so don't upscale.
- Download: one zip, about 424 MB for both formats (GIF only is about 384 MB, MP4 only about 39 MB)
- File names: each file is named by its exercise number, which matches the clip's page on the site (e.g. 0032 is exerciseclips.com/exercise/0032-barbell-deadlift)
- Access: download link valid for 12 months after you buy
- Included: a copy of the Standard Licence
- Clip list: CLIP-INDEX.csv, a spreadsheet listing every clip in the zip.
FAQ
- We're building an app for a client. Who buys the licence?
- The Extended Licence covers one product that the licence holder owns and operates. A product owned by a different organisation needs its own licence, and you can't supply the clips to another organisation for their product. So when you build an app for a client, the client who owns it buys the licence.
- Can our users download the clips?
- No. They can watch them inside your product. They can export documents your product makes, such as a workout plan or PDF, but never the raw clip file.
- Can I convert the files for my app?
- Yes. You can re-encode, resize, transcode, re-time, sprite or repackage them, for example to WebP, AVIF or HLS, for delivery inside your product.
- Can my staff and contractors work with the clips?
- Yes, while they're working for you. They can't keep the clips or use them for their own separate work.
- Can I get a refund?
- The files download immediately, so purchases are final once a download link has been used. If a download fails or a file is broken, email us and we'll fix it. This doesn't affect consumer rights that the law of your country says can't be waived.
- Which version of the licence applies to me?
- The version in force on the day you bought. This page describes v1.3.
